CAINTA OBSERVES SEMANA SANTA 2024 WITH SENAKULO AND PARADA

True to its century’s tradition of Lenten observation, Cainta began the month of March with its own staging of the passion plays or Senakulo and penitensya, culminating on Easter Sunday.

Two prominent Senakulo groups, the century-old Samahang Krus sa Nayon (Krus sa Nayon) and Samahang Nazareno held their nightly Senakulo presentation. Krus Sa Nayon ushered in the Holy Week with its own Grand Parade last March 23, beginning at the Municipal Compound, around Poblacion and Barrio Dayap, and back to the Municipal Compound.
Beginning Palm Sunday, nightly at 8pm, Krus sa Nayon held its Senakulo at the Tanghalang Cainta.
Another group, the Samahang Nazareno, held its Senakulo at OneArena, beginning Holy Monday at 8pm, until Easter Sunday.

Many other groups held their own Senakulo and Penitensya in various areas around Cainta, and even in other towns in Rizal. They include Sacrifice Club of Cainta, Penetencia Cainta, Samahang Pieta ng Cainta, D’Wilsoner’s Club of Barrio Dayap, Samahang Pasang Krus of Cainta, Krus ng Kalbaryo, Samahang Kabataang Walang Sindak ng Cainta, The Romans Club, Samahang Junior Nazareth, Cainta Nazareno, Pilak ng San Roque, Cainta Crux Fidelis, Gallileans Club Panata, Samahang Kabataan ng Hudea, Yeshua Nazarene of Sampalucan and Samahan ng Kristiyanong Senakulista ng Cainta.

Another true to tradition event is the Parada ng mga Panata, or the Grand Parade of the Panata Council, held every Good Friday. All the member-groups of the Panata Council parade on to depict the Stations of the Cross, with the Gallilean’s Club staging the Paghahatol.

To cap off the Holy Week, and following in the more than 50 years of salubong festivities, the Cainta Salubong at Kapitana group presented its Salubong festivities with the presentation of four (4) Kapitanas from Brgys. San Roque, Sto. Nino, Sta. Rosa and San Andres.
